Aging Backwards: Virtual & Live Classes
Essentrics® Aging Backwards, by Miranda Esmonde-White, is revolutionizing the way we understand the role fitness plays in slowing down the aging process while keeping our bodies young, attractive, strong and healthy. Justina Bailey has studied directly with Miranda at her base in Montreal, and brings you the same strengthening and lengthening workout that her book is based upon. Feel empowered to create change in your body and learn circular movements to stretch fascia along with muscles. Good shoes or even a mat with bare feet recommended for indoor classes, and appropriate wear for outdoor classes. No other equipment necessary. Online classes will use a chair or wall for some balance exercises.
Barre Workout: Virtual & Live Classes
Barre is a unique class for all ages designed to streamline, firm, tighten and tone muscles and realign the body without adding bulk. It fuses legendary fitness techniques from Pilates, ballet, calisthenics and yoga to create balance, elegant posture, body awareness, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance. This class incorporates more strength building principles for the muscles and bones to build stronger layers for upper body strength with weights, and sculpted legs with more single leg challenges. It is said that women with strong upper bodies are more satisfied with their overall health and appearance than women who just walk regularly. (For best results it is recommended to take 2 classes a week). “Strong” is the new “Sexy” … we just add grace into that, too! Use a chair, counter, windowsill or fence for your barre.
Essentrics® Barre: Virtual Online Class
The Essentrics exercise program offered at Studio Fitness is the same program that has been aired on PBS as ‘Classical Stretch’ since 1999. It has been rated the #1 fitness show on the network for over 10 years. Essentrics is used by numerous business professionals, Olympic athletes and celebrities. The movements are long, strong and dynamic without the use of weights or equipment. Participants will notice an immediate increase in flexibility and a release of tension in their muscles after each class – improving their posture and range of motion. Stress is released and aches and pains are soothed through the gradual unlocking of the entire body. More info about the brand go to: Essentrics.com. A chair and matwork are used for a small portion of this class.
Gentle Pilates – coming back soon!
Gentle Pilates is a good class to cover basic principles of proper alignment and body mechanics, isolate the muscles and restore a balance to the body; to focus on engaging and strengthening all the core muscles to improve fitness and prevent injuries. Discover a pace that protects the joints and former injuries of the body by encouraging strong and conscious movement to gain flow and grace in everyday movements. Full body strength and flexibility will relieve pain, unlock tight muscles and joints, strengthen your core postural muscles and create a youthful feeling in the body. The exercises will rejuvenate blood flow which will benefit the vascular system and help alleviate inflammation as well as increase full body flexibility. Small indoor classes will be held in a large venue and you will need to bring your own equipment or contact me to borrow/acquire some.
Intermediate Pilates: Virtual Online Class
Challenge your mind & body with a series of exercise designed to come from the core. I know you hear that description for every type of Pilates class – but I will teach you what the principles feel like and encourage you to find the ‘Goldilocks’ of the exercise to really experience what Pilates IS and not just fake the movements unintentionally. The exercises in class are designed to change your shape and create more strength as well as range of motion. People will notice you look different! This class is geared towards participants with previous Pilates experience or already. You will be observed doing the exercises and given cues to assist you in developing better form just like you would in a regular class.
Stretch: Virtual & Live Classes
Sunday Stretch is designed to create space in the hip joints, opening the chest, lengthening the neck and legs, learning more awareness, improve balance, and smile because you will feel as good as you look!
Friday Outdoor Stretch will provide you will a natural environment to let your body move in various planes in order to stimulate, stretch and strengthen all the muscles of the body. You will leave feeling invigorated. If you are signed up for an outdoor class, weather cancellations could be a possibility.
